The Hold Steady - "Sequestered in Memphis"

I've been a fan of The Hold Steady for a few years now. I was very excited to hear this song on XMU (a XM radio station) the other day. They have an interesting sound that is very unique and probably acquired for most. "Sequestered In Memphis" is the first single off of their latest album Stay Positive. If you can get passed the vocal styling (which is something I like), this is great song about a short lived relationship with a catchy melody that begs to be shouted along with. One of the many things I love about the lyrics are they are clever but not mystic, you don't need a PhD to figure them out. A stand out lyric is the chorus:

"In bar light she looked alright.
In daylight she looked desperate.
That's alright, I was desperate too."

Let me know what you think!

I'm gonna give you 2,000 roses and staplem to your door, I'm gonna give you 2,000 roses, so don't be askin' for no more. 2,000 roses.
I'm gonna give you 2,000 roses, what color do you wish? I'll give you red for the blood that flows through your heart and blue for the color of fish. 2,000 roses.

AMBER! That is soooo funny! I completely forgot about that song, and I am cracking up.

And kudos to you, Jake, for putting the music that you're talking about in your blog. You're such a techie! :)
